Global Entrepreneurship Summit to be held in Kenya

Kenya has captured global attention following the imminent entrepreneurship forum to be graced by US President Barack Obama.
This will be the first time the summit will be held in sub-Saharan Africa, a region that is experiencing seen massive economic growth.
The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) brings together business owners, educators, policymakers and investors to support the growth of new enterprises in developing regions.
According to White House White House statement , choosing Kenya as the destination for G.E.S. underscores the fact that Africa, and Kenya in particular, has become a center for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Kenyan techpreneurs will have opportunity to showcase their innovations and strike deals with global investors who have already started trooping to Nairobi.
President Obama will officially open the forum on Saturday, July 25th2015 but will arrive in the country on Friday.
The summit is part of Obama’s fourth presidential trip to sub-Saharan Africa. He has also visited Ghana, Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania.
Past GES events have taken place in Washington, D.C., Istanbul, Turkey, Dubai, U.A.E., Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Marrakech, Morocco.
Kenya leads the East African region for being home to a booming startup scene which entrepreneurs hope to capitalize on largely untapped markets.
Kenyan developers earlier this month bagged top honours in the regional Zambezi Prize competition.
The competition showcased the best in mobile. Kenya’s Umati Capital received $100,000 (Sh10.1 million) as the overall winner. The competition also saw Kenyan apps clinchsix of the 11 finalist positions. They included Chamasoft, Pluspeople, Agrilife, M-Changa and F3 Life.
